Gurgaon gangrape: NHRC notice to police commissioner

A woman was alleged raped on May 29 by three men in Manesar after they killed her nine-month-old baby by flinging her to the ground.

NEW DELHI: Taking cognizance of the media reports of the heinous gang rape last week in Manesar area of the national capital region(NCR), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the police chief on Tuesday asking for a detailed report in the matter within four weeks.  

“The sorrowful contents of the media reports are indicative of an atmosphere of fear, insecurity, and uncertainty prevailing in the NCR region, especially the places like Noida, Faridabad and Gurugram. It seems that some conspicuous steps are immediately required to be taken by the law enforcing agencies so that these kinds of incidents do not reoccur” said the NHRC in its notice.

The human rights watchdog has also asked for a comment from the Commissioner of Police from Noida, Gurugram, and Delhi if any joint action force can be constituted and execute the duties in the areas touching the boundaries of the national capital.

The NCR region is gaining a bad name since the recent past many incidents of sexual assault and brutal gang rape incidents have been reported.

The trigger of the notice comes from the recent incident of gang rape which occurred on May 29th in which the victim had was raped by three people who duped her taking a ride after to Gurugram after she left her home post a fight with her husband. The victim also carried along with her infant daughter who was thrown by the men on the divider after which she succumbed to her injuries.     

The woman traveled with her child's dead body in a Metro train to reach her parents' place at Tughlaqabad in Delhi. There, another doctor examined the baby and declared her dead. Later, the woman again went to Gurugram to lodge a FIR.
