PM thanks nation for support to GST, praises Adityanath government

LUCKNOW: Expressing his gratitude to the nation including the entire Opposition, legislature, state assemblies, state governments and people of India for making GST a reality,  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the support which he got over the new tax regime from every quarter proved that the country was much above party politics.

Speaking while inaugurating the new campus of APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University  (AKTU) in Lucknow, the PM, who is on two-day visit to the state capital, greeted UP CM Yogi Adityanath and his team for trying hard to setthe things right in the state with dedication and diligence.

He said the country was watching CM Yogi’s governance and his initiatives for development. “The CM and his team is going step-by-step to achieve the development agenda of the government and he needs to be appreciated for it,” said the PM, hoping that a new picture of a changed and developed UP would emerge soon under the new dispensation.

He also named a number of departments which used to discriminate in doling out sops and imparting VIP treatment to certain districts during the previous regime, especially in case of power supply. The PM said that the present BJP government had been successful in bringing sanity in governance and parity among all the 75 districts of the state. Congratulating the scientists of the country for their efforts in taking the country forward, the PM said scientists were modern saints.

Modi mentioned former president APJ Abdul Kalam as the biggest and the ultimateinspiration to the scientific community. He hailed Indian scientists for Mars Mission and exhorted the youth to come forward and contribute to nation’s growth by availing facilities imparted through schemes like Make in India, ‘Start-up India’, ‘Stand-up India’, etc. 

“Youth is the real strength of our country. They can do wonders if given enough opportunities at the right time,” observed the PM. PM Modi even praised UP governor Ram Naik for his relentless efforts to improve and regularise the higher education scenario of UP as the chancellor of a number of universities in the state.

As the PM was speaking after a visit to Central Drug research Institute, he discussed issues plaguing the medicine sector.”By the time the researchers come out with one drug after toiling for years, some new disease is reported,” he stated.

Earlier, the PM dedicated the new campus of APJ Abdul Kalam univeristy to the nation in the presence of CM Yogi Adityanath, Governor Ram Naik, and Deputy CMs Keshav Maurya and Dr Dinesh Sharma.
