BHOPAL: In a novel turn, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet meet chaired by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, saw most ministers of State carry big lunch boxes of home cooked food for all their ministerial colleagues.

Nicknamed the Tiffin Cabinet in various political circles, the initiative would enable CM Chouhan to connect with the grassroots BJP workers and have informal discussions on important issues,s aid minister of public relations Dr Natrottam Mishra..

"It’s a precursor to the chief minister's new initiative to have tiffin lunch with BJP workers in all districts, beginning after May 20," said Mishra.

Praising the initiative, minister for higher education, Jaibhan Singh Pavaiya said, "It is a beginning of a good and novel tradition which should be appreciated by all," said Pavaiya.

Political circles saw the tiffin cabinet as a conscious effort by the Shivraj Singh Chouhan to smooth the ruffled feathers of many ministerial colleagues after he recently took exception to ministers skipping important government meetings, including the cabinet meeting.
