PATNA: In shocking allegations against police, two Bihar MLAs have said that they are under mortal threat from two police officers who are planning to have them killed.

While Anant Singh, the independent MLA from Mokama who hogs the limelight for the wrong reasons, accused an IG-level officer of making plans to have him killed, Goriyakothi MLA Satyadeo Prasad Singh levelled similar allegations against the local police station in-charge, Uday Kumar.

Citing the recent death of a youth in an explosion during the planting of an explosive device, Anant Singh said it was a part of a conspiracy by the IG to have him killed. Although the MLA did not name the officer, his aides said he meant IG (Operations) Kundan Krishnan. The youth who died in the blast at Gangaprasad Tola under Mokama police station area on Monday remains unidentified.

“The man who came to kill me was himself killed. All these are part of the conspiracy by the IG to get me killed. I demand a high-level probe into the blast incident and its purpose,” the three-term MLA told journalists on Wednesday.

Singh, who is infamous for his alleged involvement in several criminal cases, also accused the IG of providing sophisticated arms to his “enemies such as Viveka Pehelwan, Bhola Singh and Ramjanm Yadav”.

“I knew for the past four months that plans were being made to get me killed. I want a high-level probe into the blast and the purpose of planting the device. Or else I will begin an agitation with a lakh people participating,” said Singh.

Krishnan could not be reached for comment, but senior police officials dismissed the MLA’s allegations and said he must file a formal complaint if he was serious about his allegations.

Satyadeo Prasad Singh, the RJD legislator from Goriyakothi in Siwan district, told journalists that Uday Kumar, the SHO of Basantpur police station, had threatened to have him killed.

“The police officer also threatened to abduct my son. He is angry with me because of my open protests against sale of alcoholic liquor in my area under police protection,” said the MLA.

Uday Kumar, however, denied the allegations as “entirely baseless”.
