'Depressed' undertrial cop commits suicide in West Bengal

According to police, Rajiv Das, a homeguard employed with Siliguri Police, was arrested in July this year for allegedly murdering a neighbour.

JALPAIGURI: An undertrial prisoner allegedly committed suicide inside the Jalpaiguri Central Jail today. According to police, Rajiv Das, a home guard employed with Siliguri Police, was arrested in July this year for allegedly murdering a neighbor. He was brought to Jalpaiguri Central Jail on August 22.

Today morning, when the other inmates were busy celebrating 'Mahanabami' inside the jail, Rajiv hanged himself inside the washroom. Initial investigations suggested that Rajiv was suffering from depression, police said. His body has been sent for post-mortem.
