Former Nagaland Assembly Speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie laid to rest with state honours

The body of former Speaker of the Nagaland Assembly and sitting MLA Kiyanilie Peseyie was laid to rest with state honours today evening at his native village in Jotsoma.

KOHIMA: The body of former Speaker of the Nagaland Assembly and sitting MLA Kiyanilie Peseyie was laid to rest with state honours today evening at his native village in Jotsoma, 7 km from the state capital.

The state funeral service was held at Centenary Ground Jotsoma.

Hundreds of people from all walks of life, including NLA Speaker Imtiwapang Aier, legislators and bureaucrats paid their last respect to the former Speaker.

Kiyanilie Peseyie died at a private hospital in Dimapur following brief illness yesterday.

Peseyie was 69 and is survived by his wife, two sons and seven daughters.

Peseyie was also the sitting MLA from the eight Western Angami seat.

He was a Naga People's Front (NPF) MLA.

Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Imtiwapang Aier described late Peseyie as "very humble, simple and down to earth person."
