KOLKATA: Protests erupted at a reputed private school in the city on Friday after a four-year-old girl was allegedly shown pornographic material and sexually assaulted by two physical training teachers after luring her to the bathroom with chocolates. The teachers, Abhishek Roy and Mohammad Mofizuddin, were arrested later in the evening. They will be produced in an Alipore court on Saturday.

The police are interrogating other teachers of the Kolkata school to find out whether more people were involved in the crime.

The nursery student had returned home bleeding profusely from her private parts on Thursday afternoon. She was admitted to SSKM hospital. On Friday morning, the girl identified the photographs of the PT teachers as the alleged perpetrators. The victim’s father said the accused had forcefully opened her stockings and inserted fingers inside her private parts.

We are doing an internal investigation as well. We can give assurance to all
parents that security & safety will be given top priority: Sharmila Nath,
Principal of the Kolkata school, told ANI.

Many parents alleged that despite repeated demands, the school had failed to install CCTV cameras.

“We asked the school authorities why CCTV cameras were not installed. They could not give a satisfactory answer,” West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights chairman Ananya Chatterjee Chakraborti said.

A nursery student of the institute was sexually assaulted by a school bus driver on November 10, 2015. The state school board has formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident. “We will take all administrative steps possible to ensure that justice prevails,” education minister Partha Chatterjee said.

The school said it would install CCTVs in December. “I assure that we will get back to the girl’s parents after completion of the investigation,”  Principal Sharmila Nath said.
