NEW DELHI: Defense Experts on Wednesday questioned the lack of security in the Border Security Force (BSF) Battalion, following the attacks by three militants in the 182nd Battalion of the BSF located near Srinagar Airport and Air Force Station Gogoland on Tuesday morning.

“It was an attack in perhaps one of the best defended places in Srinagar. The Pakistani terrorists being able to enter despite several tiers of defense are a considerable cause of worry for us.” said defense expert P.K. Sehgal.

He labeled the whole incident as fortunate and said that the Indian forces should have expected a fierce retaliation from Pakistan following the announcement of the surgical strikes.

“There was an alert and this operation should have been anticipated. Pakistan’s reaction was expected to be extremely violent. We were just fortunate that only one was killed and we managed to eliminate all three of them," he said.

Defense expert Qamar Agha claimed that the continuous operations by Pakistani militants is done to distort the peace in the Kashmir valley.

Earlier in the day, the terrorists were gunned down by the security forces during an encounter at a camp manned by the 182nd Battalion of the BSF located near the Airport and Air Force Station Gogoland.

The three gunned down terrorists during an encounter belonged to terror outfit- Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

One BSF personnel also succumbed to his injuries post encounter. Some security personnel were also injured.
