The Swadeshi Jagran Manch(SJM), the economic wing of the RSS, on Sundaywill stage a massive rally  in New Delhi  to urge people to boycott Chinese-made goods and put pressure on the BJP-NDA Government

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Swadeshi Jagran Manch(SJM), the economic wing of the RSS, on Sundaywill stage a massive rally  in New Delhi  to urge people to boycott Chinese-made goods and put pressure on the BJP-NDA Government at the Centre to adopt economic policies favouring the domestic industry and farmers. The Swadeshi Maha Rally, to be held at New Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan  will call upon the people to boycott Chinese goods and services and adopt swadeshi(indigenous) products to make the country prosperous and generate jobs, Ranjit Karthikeyan,  SJM state convener, said in a statement.

Leaders of industry, traders and farmer  organisations  have extended their support for the rally.
While the call to boycott Chinese goods will be the main thrust of the rally, the Swadeshi Jagran Manch will also use the occasion to critically examine the economic policies of the Narendra Modi Government which it believes need a course correction to propel economic growth and generate jobs. The SJM will also urge the Centre to focus on the farming sector and address the issues raised by the farming community and give a new fillip for the agriculture sector’s growth.

It will bring to the Centre’s notice the domestic agriculture sector is being ruined as a result of the low minimum support price and the import policy. Hence, a relook at these issues is indeed the need of the hour, according to the manch.

The SJM has been critical of some of the economic policies of the Modi Government and recently it was instrumental in putting pressure on the administration to tweak the GST to provide relief to medium and small enterprises. It is also seeking to expand its political and ideological reach among the anti-governmenttrader and farmer organisations, sources said. “The Swadeshi Jagran Manch is providing a platform to various farmer, trader and industry organisations to put forth their demands. The manch will take up these issues with the government,”  said Karthikeyan.
