PANJIM: Three men have been summoned by police in connection with a video purportedly showing Goa Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardesai arguing with a fisherwoman and using derogatory words, an official said.

Sardesai had, earlier, alleged that his conversation with the woman was "maliciously interpreted".

The video, apparently shot in Margao market, about 40 kilometres from here, had gone viral on social media on Thursday and a complaint was filed with the Cyber Cell and Fatorda police by Goa Forward Party leader Durgadas Kamat.

Kamat, in his complaint, said that the video was "doctored" and had been shot and circulated to defame Sardesai and to stall developmental and social work undertaken by the latter.

"A banker Raghuvir Shirodkar, a lecturer Sushant Naik and a lawyer Aditya Naik have been summoned for questioning tomorrow," Fatorda police inspector Navlesh Desai said today.

Savera, an NGO working in the field of women's welfare, had filed a complaint against Sardesai with the Women's Police Station in Panaji accusing him of outraging the modesty of the fisherwoman and insulting her as well as Goans.
