Security alert sounded in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh after receipt of LeT letter by Jaipur railway station manager office

The letter particularly mentioned about world-famous Mahakal Temple and Sai Temple in MP’s Ujjain, besides temples, bus stations and cinema halls of Rajasthan and MP being on the target.

BHOPAL: A hand-written letter bearing the name of a Rawalpindi-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander received by the office of station manager of Jaipur railway station last month has triggered a security alert across poll-bound Madhya Pradesh.

The letter sent in the name of Rawalpindi (Pakistan) based LeT area commander Maulvi Abu Sheikh was received by the office of station manager of Jaipur railway station on September 29.

The letter mentioned about the threat to blow up major railway and bus stations in MP, Rajasthan and Gujarat on October 20 and target prominent temples of Rajasthan and MP on November 9 to avenge the killing of “Jehadis.”

The letter included names of Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Chittorgarh railway stations of Rajasthan and Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Katni railway stations of Madhya Pradesh which would be targeted on October 20.

Also, the letter particularly mentioned about world-famous Mahakal Temple and Sai Temple in MP’s Ujjain, besides temples, bus stations and cinema halls of Rajasthan and MP being on the target of the terror outfit as part of its plans to turn Dussehra and Deepawali gory in India.

The receipt of the letter has subsequently triggered a security alert at all the places, including bus, railway stations and temples in all concerned states.

A senior police official in Madhya Pradesh, while confirming about the sounding of security alert all across MP, said though one of the dates (October 20) mentioned in the letter received by authorities at Jaipur railway station has passed off peacefully on Saturday, the police are not taking any chances and continue to be on high alert.

While the special branch of state police has alerted all districts of the poll-bound state to maintain absolute alertness, the railway protection force (RPF) establishment too has sounded a security alert to all SP (Railways) in Madhya Pradesh.
