Yogi Adityanath government hikes SC/ST annual scholarship in Uttar Pradesh as 'Diwali gift'

The spokesman said that the majority of the students, including those whose cases have been renewed, have been paid scholarship on Oct 2, while the remaining scholarship will be awarded by Jan 26.

LUCKNOW: Extending a diwali gift to the SC/ST students, the Yogi Adityanath Government in Uttar Pradesh has increased the annual scholarship from Rs 2250 to Rs 3000 and has decided to include more children by increasing the income limit of the beneficiary families to Rs 2.50 lakh.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced these decisions during the review meeting of Social welfare department here on Monday.

Government spokesman said that government has not only increased the income limit of beneficiaries' family from Rs 2 lakh per annum to Rs 2.50 lakh but has also increased the scholarship by Rs 750 per annum.

"Similar facilities will be extended to the poor students of the general category," he said.

The spokesman said that the majority of the students, including those whose cases have been renewed, have been paid scholarship on Oct 2, while the remaining scholarship will be awarded by Jan 26.

Elaborating on the achievements of the department, officials told Chief Minister, "Over 23 lakh students have been awarded scholarships this year. And about 40 lakh have been paid pension worth Rs.1952 crore in the current fiscal government."

Similarly, more beneficiaries have been included under the schemes like National Family Welfare Scheme and CM's Community Marriage Scheme recently.
