NEW DELHI: Peggy Martin, 90 plus and ailing, has met former prime ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, and is excited at the prospect of meeting Rahul Gandhi in Shillong on Wednesday.
Spending her twilight years at the Tripura Castle, Shillong, Peggy has been governess to Pradyut Manikya, a member of the Tripura royal family and working president of the state Congress, but retired several years ago. “She is very excited to see Rahul and is applying cream on her face,” Pradyut told this paper. “I thank Rahul for agreeing to meet her,” he said.
On December 25, 2017, Rahul had tweeted birthday greetings and called on a 107-year-old lady who wished to see him.
