Wife of Peoples Democratic Party worker killed in north Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Wife of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) worker, was stabbed to death by unidentified persons in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, official sources said on Monday.

They said a group of three unidentified persons entered the house of PDP worker Abdul Majid Dar at Shahgund Sumbal in Bandipora district, late on Sunday night with the intention to kidnap him.

However, his wife Shakeela resisted the move when the unidentified person were searching rooms, looking for Abdul Dar.

They said Shakeela (45) was stabbed several times with a sharp-edged weapon by the attackers, who managed to escape under the cover of darkness before the neighbours could come.

She was rushed to a local hospital at Hajin from where she was referred to JVC, Bemina hospital in Srinagar.

Shakeela succumbed in the hospital early on Monday.

A case has been registered and a massive hunt has been launched to nab the attackers, they added.
