RANCHI: A Naxal was beaten to death by villagers in Bariatu Village in Lathehar district of Jharkhand on Thursday night. The villagers caught hold of him after he had barged into the house of a contractor and started beating him for a levy.

Police said that out of the five rebels, three managed to escape while the other two were caught and beaten up by the villagers.

"Five rebels of Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP) barged into the house of a contractor Birendra Singh, presently engaged in toilet construction work, and demanded a levy of Rs 15000 as levy at Bariatu Village which falls under Manika Police Station," said Latehar SP Prashant Anand.

It is a reaction against Naxals as they have performed many unlawful activities against the society. Naxals are against the State & society. They believe in disintegration of the society. We want integrated nation. They want class war. We want change.
