Whatsapp Group on Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao gives suggestion to PM Modi

CHANDIGARH: A Whatsapp Group have urged PM Modi for special provision of one per cent reservation in Centre and State government jobs as well as in admissions in educational institutes for those girls who do not have any brother.

The Whatsapp Group "Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao" has made the same request to Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi.

The parents associated with this Whatsapp Group has apprised PM Modi and Union Minister Maneka Gandhi about the suggestions received on this group and urged them to initiate further to make the
daughters self-reliant as well as improvement of the programme, showing fruitful results.

The other suggestions included that the retirement age of parents who have only daughters should be raised from 58 to 62 years so that they could continue to provide better opportunities of higher education to their daughters. Apart from this, the maximum age limit for applying in government jobs for such girls, should be raised as this would not put any extra burden on the state exchequer.

Similarly, the fee of those girls who are studying in any government and private institutes and do not have real brother, would be waived off. In addition, scholarship would be given to them and education allowance should be given to the girls studying in any educational institutes.

Continuous suggestions for furthering the girls in every field were being received popular in a short span of time.

Recently, these parents handed over a memorandum containing suggestions received on this group to the Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Agriculture and  Haryana Farmer’s Welfare Minister, OP Dhankar, Women and Child Development Minister. This initiative by parents of daughters is also being appreciated by various social organizations.

"All these and other suggestions received on Whatsapp group would not only help in realizing the dream of Prime Minister to make the daughters self-reliant but Haryana would also set another example before the country to empowering girls after the successful implementation of nationwide programme,’’ said
a group member. The Prime Minister had recently launched the second phase of 'Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao'
programme from Jhunjhunu of Rajasthan.
