LUCKNOW: Even after over a fortnight of the shooting incident targeting Kashif Jameel, brother of Dr Kafeel Ahmad Khan of BRD Medical College, his elder brother Adeel Khan met CM Yogi Adityanath at his janata darshan at Hindu Sevashram in Gorakhnath temple seeking CBI inquiry into the incident on Friday.

Kashif Jameel, younger brother of Dr Kafeel Khan, was shot by some unidentified assailants in Gorakhpur early this month. Jameel had received three bullet injuries and after initial treatment in Gorakhpur, he was referred to King George's Medical University in Lucknow. Notably, Dr Kafeel Khan, a paediatrician at BRD Medical College of Gorakhpur, was suspended and later arrested over kids' death row wherein over two dozen children had died in the institution in a span of 24 hours allegedly due to disruption in oxygen supply.

Dr Khan is currently out on bail.

"I met the CM and urged him for action against miscreants who attacked my younger brother Kashi with the intention of taking his life, " said Adeel Khan adding that the CM had assured him action against culprits and also directed SSP Shalabh Mathur for speedy action in the case. Interacting with media, Adeel said that the police had failed to bring the attackers of his brothers to books even after 19 days of the incident. "We were assured by the district police of action in 48 hours but all in vain," he maintained. "Finally, we have requested the CM to recommend a CBI probe into the incident," he added.

Adeel Khan also handed over a letter to the CM during the meeting mentioning how CO, Gorakhnath, Pravin Singh and SP City VK Singh. In the application letter, Adeel Khan mentioned that how CO Gorakhnath Pravin Singh and SP city VK Singh 'deliberately' delayed medical treatment of his brother by around four hours on the pretext of medico-legal formalities.

Moreover, a few days ago, Dr Kafeel had himself accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Bansgaon, Kamlesh Paswan and his three associates for the June 10 attack on his brother Kashif. However, Paswan had refuted the charges and trashed them as a ploy of Dr Kafeel to remain in limelight. Dr Kafeel was joined by his mother in demanding police protection for the family. As per the police sources, initial probe indicated that the Jameel, a property dealer and a business, was attacked over some property dispute.
