Will unite Opposition to make Mayawati PM: Former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala

He promised that if the INLD-BSP combine comes to power in Haryana, it will waive the loans of farmers and weaker sections.

GOHANA: Amidst slogans of “Behen Mayawati, Zindabad” and “Tau Devi Lal Amar Rahe”, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo Om Prakash Chautala on Sunday resolved to make the BSP suremo the next Prime Minister in 2019.

Addressing a ‘Samman Divas’ rally in Gohana, the INLD chief announced his party will work towards bringing non-Congress opposition parties on one platform to ensure that Mayawati becomes the country’s next PM.

“We will work towards uniting the Opposition so that Mayawati becomes the next Prime Minister,’’ he added.

Promising farm loan waivers, Chautala says he had would ensure free education and health for the poor. “We will increase old age monthly pension to `3,000,’’ the former Harayana Chief Minister said.

Chautala said his father Devi Lal had a dream that the countrymen should have enough food, shelter, good education and access to affordable health.

“Today, he is not amongst us but we have to follow his ideals and work towards realising his dreams,” he said.

Prior to Sunday’s rally, the INLD chief had last addressed a public rally at Jind on September 25, 2014.

Supporters of INLD MP Dushyant Chautala hooted, as Abhay Chautala began to speak, prompting him to urge the crowd to remain disciplined.

BSP’s Haryana in-charge Dr Meghraj also urged the crowd to behave.“Halla machaane se galat sandesh jaata hai. (Yelling will send across a wrong message will be delivered ).”

Abhay also promised farmers a complete crop loan and electricity bill waiver. He also urged the people to help the INLD-BSP alliance in Haryana with an overwhelming majority in next year’s Assembly polls. “Repeat the 1987 results when the INLD swept the state...Strengthen the hands of the INLD-BSP combine so that Om Prakash Chautala once again becomes the CM,” he said.

Abhay reiterated that the INLD has been fighting for Haryana’s rightful share of Satluj-Yamuna Link waters, but the Centre and Haryana were not serious about completion of the canal.
