Postmortem reveals Hindu Samaj leader Kamlesh Tiwari was stabbed 15 times, shot by bullet once

Two deep cut marks were found on his neck and the stabbing was centred between jaws and chest with the wounds were inflicted within 10 centimetres of one another.

LUCKNOW:  The autopsy of Hindutva outfit leader Kamlesh Tiwari revealed that he was stabbed around 15 times from his neck to chest and then shot in the face by the assailants.The Hindu Samaj Party (HSP) leader was found dead in a pool of blood at his residence in Khurshedbagh locality of Lucknow last Friday. 

The UP Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) sleuths brought the two main accused — Ashfaq Sheikh and Moinuddin Pathan — involved in the murder to Lucknow after securing their 72-hour transit remand from a Gujarat court on Wednesday. The two murder suspects were nabbed by the Gujarat ATS in Shamlaji at the Rajasthan-Gujarat border while they were trying to sneak into Gujarat late on Tuesday evening.Preliminary interrogation revealed that they committed the crime “in retribution to the purported statements by Tiwari”, an ATS release said in Ahmedabad.

According to DIG, Gujarat ATS, Himanshu Shukla, Shiekh and Pathan were spotted on the police radar through electronic surveillance when they contacted their relatives and friends in Surat after running out of money. 

The ATS had earlier nabbed three persons from Surat.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday announced immediate financial help of Rs 15 lakh to Kamlesh Tiwari’s wife and sanctioned a house for the family in Sitapur district’s tehsil Mehmoodabad, an official said. The chief minister directed officials that the main accused should be tried in a fast-track court, a UP government statement said.Expressing satisfaction over the arrest of the two men, Tiwari’s family called for capital punishment.
