Man held in connection with violence during anti-CAA protest in Jamia

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has arrested a 22-year-old man for his alleged involvement in the violent anti-CAA protest near Jamia Millia Islamia here last month, officials said.

The accused has been identified as Furkan, a resident of Jamia Nagar, they said.

Furkan's father Muhammad Naeem said police took his son on the basis of the CCTV footage which showed him carrying a container but it was not known whether there was water or petrol in it.

"Police took my son on Thursday at around 6.30 pm on the basis of CCTV footage. Police said they saw he was carrying a container on the day of the incident," Naeem said.

Police said in 10 cases registered in connection with the violence in Jamia Nagar, 102 people have been arrested so far.
