THANE: A couple, their parents and several others were booked for organising a marriage function on Thursday despite prohibitory orders against such gatherings due to the lockdown in place for the coronavirus outbreak, officials in Thane in Maharashtra said.

They have been charged under section 188 of IPC for disobedience, said an official from Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar.

"Acting on a tip-off, we reached the marriage venue and booked the couple, their parents, the priest solemnizing the marriage and 20 guests. No arrest has been made so far," he said.

"All the people at the venue have been ordered to be in quarantine for 14 days," he added.
