LUCKNOW:  Congress general secretary and the party’s in-charge for Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has announced smartphones and electronic scooties for girls if the party comes to power in 2022.

In a tweet in Hindi on Thursday, Priyanka posted:  “I met some girl students, they said they need smartphones to study and for security. I am happy that with the consent of the manifesto committee, the UP Congress took a decision to give smartphones to the girls who pass intermediate and electronic scooties to graduate girl students.”

This is the second political promise by Priyanka this week. On Tuesday, she announced that Congress will give 40% of party tickets to women candidates. She urged women to join her and fight for their rights. “Any woman who wants to contest can give an application by November 15,” she said.

After Priyanka, Rahul Gandhi also tweeted in Hindi and said, “The daughter of the country says that with our hard work, with the strength of education, with proper reservation I can go on and on.” Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee witnessed celebrations after the announcement on reserving 40% of tickets for women. It has decided to take the smartphone and scooty promise to people across the state.

The Congress as strategy wants to focus more on the younger age groups as the party strats reaching out to women voters.
