PATNA: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday launched a blistering attack on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, alleging that both wanted to promote their sons in politics.

Addressing a rally in Bihar’s Darbhanga district, Shah said that Lalu Prasad wanted to make his son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav the chief minister of Bihar, while Sonia Gandhi wished to see her son Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister of the country.

“But both posts are not vacant,” he said, adding that while Nitish Kumar is the chief minister of Bihar, Narendra Modi was serving as the Prime Minister. “CM ya PM ka seat khali nahi hai. Yahan Nitish Kumar hain, wahan PM Modi hain (Be it CM or PM, there is no seat vacant),” he told the gathering.

He was in Darbhanga to campaign in favour of the BJP candidate from Alinagar, Maithili Thakur.

Terming the opposition Mahagathbandhan as ‘lathbandha’, Shah said that Lalu was involved in a series of scams, including fodder scam, Bitumen scam and land-for-job scam, while Congress was involved in corruption cases worth Rs 12 lakh crore.

Referring to a ban on a radical outfit- People’s Front of India (PFI) -- imposed by the Narendra Modi government at the centre, Union Home Minister said that several members of the banned outfit were arrested.

“PFI members will be set free if RJD comes to power in Bihar,” he asserted.

He claimed that the NDA government would not let the PFI members come out of prison.

“Do you think that RJD will let PFI members remain in jail if they come to power in Bihar?” he asked the people. Highlighting the achievements of NDA government, a senior BJP leader said that the government was providing free ration to 8.52 crore people of Bihar, constituted the Makhana Board and provided 125 units of free electricity. He announced that Darbhanga would soon get a metro rail.

“An airport has already been constructed, and AIIMS-Darbhanga is under construction. A temple of Goddess Sita is also being built in Mithilanchal, and all places she visited will be connected to the Ramayan Circuit,” he added.

"NDA government gave the official status to Maithili, and the Constitution has been translated into the language," he said, adding a Rs 500-crore center is being constructed in the region for conserving the manuscripts.
