Sanitary napkin machines installed in Cuttack city
CUTTACK: In a major step towards promoting personal hygiene among girls and women, Cuttack Municipal Corporation(CMC) has installed automated sanitary napkin vending machine and sanitary napkin incinerator ) on the premises of Biswanath Pandit Library and Sishu Bhawan Shelter for Urban Homeless.
The vending machine and incinerator have been installed with an expenditure of about `1 lakh.
CMC official sources said by inserting coins, the vending machine will dispense a sanitary napkin. The incinerators installed adjacent to the vending machines will dispose of used napkins by turning it into ashes.
The machines have been installed as per the guideline of Swachh Bharat Mission of the Centre on providing facilities for availing and disposal of napkins at institutions, offices, working women’s hostel and other such places.
