Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena said availability of adequate number of medical professionals and faculties for medical colleges has always been a challenge for the State Government.

“The incentive packages have been introduced in order to attract more doctors from outside the system and retain them in their places of posting. Hope the scheme would benefit them the most,” he added.
Earlier, the State Government had announced place-based incentives for physicians posted in inaccessible areas, categorised in four zones depending on the vulnerability of the locations.
While a specialist doctor posted in CHC/PHC in V4 region is getting an incentive of Rs 80,000 per month, an MBBS doctor is receiving Rs 40,000. The incentive is Rs 60,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively for V3 zone, Rs 40,000 and Rs 20,00 for V2 zone and Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 for V1 zone.
If the medicos are posted in a Sub-divisional Hospital or District Headquarters Hospital, the incentive is 50 per cent less.
