Give Women Due in Battle of Perceptions

Women have been endowed with intuition, perception and endurance. This is something most people agree on. Intuition is something seen by psychologists as more pronounced in women because they are primarily nurturers and their instinct is to protect. Their instinct to garner and protect sometimes leaves themselves in danger because they are mostly looking out for the ones they love.

Perception is a key factor to raising children. The perception of a woman is the turning point of any social change. Social change happens when women make those changes happen, like the first widow who refused to tonsure her head, or the first woman who boldly posed in front of the camera, or Razia Sultana, or Rani Chennamma or Mother Teresa. They have all brought and presented to society the nature of women on perception, strength and perseverance.

Nurturing is something that comes so naturally to women that even their bodies are in tune with, so that sometimes the portly look is something a nurturing soul can’t get rid off. So it really does not matter what rapists and others say about women. In fact, it should be available to all to study the way some demented people talk and their perception of the crimes they commit, those crimes can be upon women or on others. Women can sustain all that, precisely why they are thus strong! They endure! But the minds of these criminals should not be banned from talking, because they should be studied and we need to make remedial changes on how we produce such maleficent and contorted thinking.

It is common knowledge there’s a sense of correctness in the mind of a criminal, he sees a right when there isn’t one. Why shy away from his misconception? It should be read, heard and debated upon to thrash out what went so wrong in the making of his mind. We should study the genetic, social and cultural ramifications of his actions and give pointers to society how not to make such maladjusted individuals.

The fear that the views of a rapist may inspire a section of people may well be true, but even then we have to present a counterclaim of what is really the right thing. It is an educational process and it should be on top of the list to correct the fact that rape is a criminal activity.

I remember once a demented man strolled into our serene neighbourhood without a stitch on him. A call to the police was made and they came and took him away. It was all done in a dignified way. What we have lost from our perception is dignity. We have taken it away, which is especially why rape happens. We have to deal with all our problems with dignity and allow women theirs. Whether we debate on television panels, or we make hysterical remarks on the words of a demented character or his ilk, we need to remember perception begins with the women, what she feels even with the baby inside of her. Perceive as you will, but return to her, her dignity and right of place in society, willingly.
