Reeth Rishya clinches state Table Tennis championship title

CHENNAI: Reeth Rishya of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) defeated N Vidya of ITRC 11-8, 7-11,11-5, 9-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-8 in the women’s final of the Tamil Nadu table tennis state championship organised by CTTF and Kancheepuram District Table Tennis Association at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium.

Balasubramaniam bags title

H Balasubramaniam of Padma Seshadri Higher Secondary School (KK Nagar) won the 17th Adyar Times FIDE rated Open chess tournament. An eighth standard student, Balasubramaniam carried home `25,000. He demonstrated great skill and composure in taming former Tamil Nadu state champion Ram S Krishnan in the seventh and the final round, to set a winner’s target of 6.5 points. In a three-way tie for the first place Balasubramaniam was adjudged as the champion on account of better Buchholz score. The runner-up was R Ashwath of Chennai who was awarded Rs 15,000.
