(EDs: Recasting overnight story)New Delhi, Nov 14 (PTI) Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal hasdirected officers to devise a mechanism with activeparticipation of all stakeholders to weed out the "menace" ofillegal storage and sale of acid in the city.

He said the Global Positioning System (GPS) in all publictransport was a must and a time line should be drawn to ensurethe same.

Installation of GPS in all modes of public transport ismandatory in the national capital.

The directions were issued yesterday at a meeting of theTask Force on Women Safety, chaired by the Lt Governor.

The governor said all the stake holders should devisemechanisms for analysing the causes of acquittal in sexualassault cases, the L-G office said in a statement.

"The governor directed to formulate a procedure withactive participation of all stakeholders for a coordinatedapproach to weed out the menace of illegal storage and sale ofacid," the statement said.

Baijal emphasised that all stakeholders must adopt afocused and coordinated strategy to make Delhi a safe city forwomen, it added. PTI BUN SRYRCJ.
