Aizawl, Nov 14 (PTI) Mizoram government has received Rs13.54 crore under 'project tiger scheme' from the NationalTiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) during 2011-2017 for theDampa Tiger Reserve, Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla informed thestate Assembly today.

Lal Thanhawla, who also holds Environment, Forests andClimate Change department, gave the information in a writtenreply to a query from Mizo National Front (MNF) memberLalruatkima.

He said according to the Indirect Scientific Analysisconducted by the Guwahati-based Aranyak, there were three tofour tigers inside the Reserve.

The fund was utilised for payment of salaries, buildinginfrastructure, maintenance, construction of roads andpatrolling paths, habitat improvement, creation of grassland,field ration and vehicle maintenance, he said.

Situated along the Bangladesh-Tripura border, theReserve covered an area of 500 square kilometres. PTI HCVSNS.
