The facility, the largest of its kind to come up inthe country, will be functional by late next year, Adient'svice-president for engineering and chief technical officerDetlef Juerss said here.

The ground-breaking ceremony for the facility, whichwill come up in a 20,000 square metres area, took placeyesterday, he said.

The upcoming facility will be in addition to theIrish company's existing technical centre here, which employsaround 850 engineers and contributes majorly to Adient'sglobal industrial design operations, he said.

"This investment of USD 30 million is an importantmilestone for us as we optimise our engineering footprintaround the world to deliver global products and innovationcapabilities wherever our customers are," Juerss said.

With this new facility, Adient will be able to fullyexecute product development, including design and productvalidation, for global and local launch markets in Pune, allbacked by cutting-edge infrastructure that will be helpful tothe domestic automotive industry, he said.

The Dublin-headquartered company sells one in threeautomotive seats in the world and works with all majorautomakers and vehicle classes. PTI IAS BEN GKNP.
