New Delhi, Oct 14 (PTI) Three passengers were leftstranded for about an hour in a lift at the Barakhamba Roadmetro station here today when it developed a snag.
Rescue was taken up by Delhi Metro RaiL Corporation(DMRC) officials to safely take them out from the lift, whichgot stuck between ground and concourse level around 5 PM, ametro spokesperson said.
Personnel of the Delhi Fire Service were also rushed tothe spot. A fire official said there were no children or womenamong the stranded.
The problem occurred due to the rope coming out of thegroove of the pulley resulting in jamming of the motor of thelift, a DMRC spokesperson said.
"The general manager (electrical), in charge ofmaintenance, rushed to the site and got the doors of the liftopened to provide ventilation and water was given to the threemiddle-aged passengers.
"The rope was then cut to restore functionality of thelift and all passengers were taken out safely by the DMRCstaff. Fire service and other agencies were also present onthe spot to assist, in case required," chief spokesman of DMRCAnuj Dayal said. PTI SBRAQS.
