Coimbatore, Oct 14 (PTI) Salem district has recorded ninedengue deaths in the last few days and 528 persons are beingtreated for it, the central team deputed to Tamil Nadu toexamine the situation was informed today.
In his report to the five member team, Salem GovernmentHospital Dean Kanagaraj said nine persons had died of denguein the last few days in the district and that 528 affectedpersons were undergoing treatment, official sources said.
Also, a total of 5,270 persons were under treatment fordifferent types of fever across the district, he said.
The team, which reviewed the situation in Chennaiyesterday, visited Kottagounampatti area in Omalur today andthe report was submitted to the team head Kaushal Kumar, thesources said.

A report from Erode said 281 persons, mostly minorchildren, have been hospitalised in the past 13 days at thegovernment headquarters hospital in the city.
Most of them were discharged after treatment, hospitalsources said.
Some of the suspected dengue cases were referred to theMedical College Hospital, Coimbatore, the sources said.
There are no official statistics on the number of deathsin the district.
The team had yesterday termed the 40 deaths since Januaryin the state due to the fever as "minimal" and said there wasno need to panic. They had stressed on more public cooperationin eradicating the fever spread by mosquitoes.
The team was informed by state officials that there were40 deaths of the 12,000 dengue cases reported since January.
During discussions,the state government had sought Rs 256crore from the Centre to enhance dengue control activities.
The team was also apprised of the state government'santi-dengue initiatives and told that they were beingimplemented on a "war-footing". PTI NVM COR APRAPR.
