Patna, Oct 14 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi todayvisited the newly constructed Bihar Museum.

A pet project of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,the museum was formally opened on October 2 this year. Themuseum houses a number of galleries which showcase the state'shistory and its contribution to world civilisation.

"The Prime Minister reached the museum, immediatelyafter attending the function at Patna University, where he waswelcomed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Governor SatyapalMallik, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan and Deputy CM SushilKumar Modi were also present", an official release said.

"The PM spent close to 20 minutes at the museum wherethe CM personally showed him all the exhibits and explainedeach of the objects on display", the release said.

"The Chief Minister later said that immediately uponalighting from his aircraft, the PM had expressed his desireto see the museum", the release added.

The museum was built at a cost of about Rs 500 croreand has a rich collection of artefacts belonging to a timeperiod from the ancient times till the year 1784. PTI NACRG.
