The surge in attacks against Hindus has unfolded alongside the reemergence of Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh's largest Islamist party, and its student wing.
According to local media outlet The Daily Star, the deceased was identified as 55-year-old Liton Chandra Ghosh, owner of 'Baishakhi Sweetmeat and Hotel'.
Bangladesh has seen a rise in violent attacks against Hindus under the Yunus-led interim administration, with multiple incidents reported in recent weeks.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh remain a matter of concern, as it may cause a rippling effect in Assam as well.
