According to police reports, attackers broke down the main door of the Das family residence in Betbona village, dragged out Chandan and Hargobindo Das, and struck them with an axe in the back.
Jharsuguda SP said six other individuals from Murshidabad, suspected to be involved in the larger violence incident, were also detained during the raids.
Among those apprehended were two sons of Ziaul Sheikh, one of the prime suspects in the murder of a man and his son in Murshidabad's Jafrabad, according to police.
