The Cyber Crime wing of Chennai Police registered a suo motu case against the YouTuber for continuous allegations and critical commentary targeting the functioning of the state government.
According to the petitions, the first case pertained to a video released by Maridhas in April last year, claiming the Tablighi Jamaat was responsible for spreading Covid-19 in the country.

AAG Veera Kathiravan was arguing on behalf of the Tamil Nadu police in a petition filed by Maridhas to quash the FIR in the sedition case registered against him for his social media posts.
