Top seed Sergei Tiviakov of The Netherlands got off to a flying start winning both his games on the first day of the Apollo Engineering College Commonwealth Chess Championships at Multipurpose Indoor Stadium here on Friday. Sharing the lead with Tiviakov on two points were Mikhailo Oleksienko (Ukraine), Marat Dzhumaev (Uzbekistan), Daniil Lintchevski (Russia), S P Sethuraman, M R Venkatesh, MR Lalith Babu, S Arun Prasad, RR Laxman (all India), Oliver Dimakiling (Philippines) and M Mahalakshmi.
In the second round, WFM Mahalakshmi caused the biggest upset bringing down GM Sahaj Grover in an exciting Nimzo Indian game.
