Good show by Aushik, Petson

State left arm spinner R Aushik Srinivas’s career best effort of 7 for 87 enabled Vijay CC to restrict Globe Trotters to 265 on the first day of the Fourth Round of the Senior Division League of the TNCA at Pachaiyappa’s College grounds.

Interestingly all the Trotters batsmen fell to catches. Vasudeava Das had a busy time in the slips gobbling up five catches; all off the bowling of Aushik Srinivas.

Trotters’ skipper Sridharan Sriram (63) and S Dinesh (59) were the only ones who could play the Vijay attack deftly as they were sound in their basics on a difficult surface. Sriram and Dinesh added 107 runs in 27.5 overs for the second wicket. In reply, Vijay were 26 for 2 at stumps.

Petson Matthews’s unbeaten century (106 batting, 233b, 8x4, 1x6) rescued Youngstars who were at one stage three wickets down with just four runs on the board, to a stable 234 for 6 at stumps.

Petson and Martin (51) added 78 runs in 20.1 overs for the fourth wicket.
