Chennai Badminton Championship: Rithvik edges Aswin

Rithvik Sanjevi of Towers Club edged Aswin Sridhar and advanced to the U-10 boys’ singles semifinals of Li-Ning Chennai District Badminton Championship at the SDAT Nehru Indoor Stadium on Tuesday. Sanjevi started off in the right note, winning the opening game 21-12 before Sridhar pounced back to win the second 21-11. Sanjevi regained his composure to win the third 21-8. Siddanth Gupta, Srinath and Srikrishnan also progressed to the last four.

Results: U-10 boys quarterfinals: Siddanth Gupta(Towers Club) bt  Jeevan Dant - 21-6, 21-7, Srinath (Alumni Club) bt  Vijay Karthik (Tarun Academy) -21-7, 21-8, Srikrishnan (YMCA) W/o  Rahul, Rithvik Sanjevi(Towers Club) bt  Sri Aswin Sridhar - 21-12, 11-21, 21-12. Under -10 boys’ doubles semifinals: Siddanth Gupta/Rithvik Sanjevi(Towers Club) bt Sai Aswin Sridharan/Manoj 21-9, 21-9, Srikrishnan/ Sasank(YMCA)  W/o Varadarajan/Vishiak.

Under -10 girls’ singles semifinals: Rajvi(Sterling Club) bt  Ramya Krishnan (Towers Club) - 21-7, 22-20, Chandrika (Alumni Club) bt  Ayushi Sharma - 21-17, 21-14.

Veterans’ singles semifinals: T Shankar (Sanmar) bt Tamil Selvam - 21-16, 16-21, 24-22, Lesley bt Vimal Malani - 15-21, 21-17, 21-19; final: T Shankar(Sanmar) bt  Lesley - 21-18, 21-19.
