Chennai to host National Paralympics Swimming

Ripples 2012 — the 12th National Paralympics Swimming and Water Polo Championship will be held at SDAT Aquatic stadium from Dec 6 to 9. The event is conducted by the Paralympic Swimming Association of Tamil Nadu (PSATN). Over 400 physically-challenged participants across India will take part in the meet.

The Government of Tamil Nadu, primarily the departments of Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Welfare of Differently-Abled and Sports Development Authority have been a pillar of support in terms of providing administrative support to the PSATN. The selection trials for shortlisting participants will be held on Nov 11 at SDAT Aquatic Complex, Velachery, Chennai at 9 am. Application with medical certificate can be given at the meet venue.

Aquatic meet

The Tamil Nadu State Aquatic Association will be organising the state swimming meet at Velachery Aquatic Complex from Nov 16 to 18. The meet assumes importance because of being a selection trials to pick the state swimming and water polo teams for the South Zone swimming meet in Chennai from Nov 27 to 29.  The event will be held in 7 categories: Open (18 years and above), Group I (15-17 years), Group II (13-14 years), Group III (11-12 years), Group IV (9-10 years), Group V (8 years), Group  VI (7 years) and Water Polo.
