NCA planning five zonal academies

The National Cricket Academy (NCA) plans to expand its reach. At present, the centre is situated in Bangalore, but there are plans to set up five zonal academies in each of the five zones.

At a meeting of the NCA sub-committee in Bangalore on Thursday, it was proposed that the academy will function better if the zonal academies are set up.

“At present, we have the NCA and academies in each state. We feel that there is a gap in the current system. If the zonal academies are set up, they can act as a link between the NCA and the state academies. The state academies will report to the zonal ones, which will report to the NCA,” said a member of the NCA sub-committee who attended the meeting.

The NCA sub-committee will forward this plan to the BCCI Working Committee for ratification.

Meanwhile, the members of the NCA sub-committee were in for a rude shock when it was discovered that the BCCI has lost Rs 50 crore on a dubious land deal and it is now mulling initiating criminal proceedings against those involved in the mess.
