Lakshmi claims state U-11 title

Top seed and Woman FIDE Master C Lakshmi of Chennai won the state girls U-11 chess title with a score of 8.5/9. R Srimathi of Madurai took the second spot with 7.5 points.

Top seed and Woman FIDE Master C Lakshmi of Chennai won the state girls U-11 chess title with a score of 8.5/9. R Srimathi of Madurai took the second spot with 7.5 points.

In the boys section, Prajesh, who had emerged champion with a round to spare, won his final round game against Tarun V Kanth to finish with nine points.

Top seed P Iniyan of Erode shared the second spot with R Dileep Kumar, R Upendra (both Chennai), P Yutesh (Thiruvallur) with seven points. Malarvizhi Hariharan, Head Mistress, Government Higher Secondary School, Somangalam, gave away the prizes.

Loyola Bag Crown

Harish and Yunus of Loyola College beat Fahad and Akram of New College 6-3, 6-2 to win the tennis doubles title in the 81st Bertram Memorial tournaments. In chess at the end of six rounds, Akash Iyer of Modern School led with six points, followed by Rajesh VAV of Loyola on 5.5.
