Bony: I Have Not Lived up to Pounds 25 Million Price Tag

Wilfried Bony admits he will return to Swansea with Manchester City tomorrow (Sunday) having failed to justify his pounds 25 million move to the Etihad in January.

The Ivory Coast forward, who topped the Premier League scoring charts with 20 goals in 38 games during the calendar year of 2014, has scored just once for City since being signed by Manuel Pellegrini to provide additional firepower to overhaul Chelsea in the race for the title.

A delayed start to his City career caused by Africa Cup of Nations

commitments, followed by injury problems, have restricted Bony to just two starts and eight substitute appearances for Pellegrini's team.

But despite his inability to take his Swansea form to Manchester, the

26-year-old insists he has no regrets over his move.

"It's been a difficult time here at City, but this is football," Bony said. "I can't choose the international programme, I can't choose the time to be injured.

"Of course I would like to have been here more, to be fit and to be scoring. But that is something you can't control. All I can do now is work, try and help my team, but I like it here, this club is always fighting, the pressure is everywhere and I am not afraid about that.

"I hope the Swansea fans will give me a nice reception, but there will be some who are happy to see me and some not. They will say, 'He's not playing there at City, only a couple of minutes, he should not have left', but this is part of football, it is what it is, and you can't be loved by everyone.

"They will be looking for me coming back and hopefully I will enjoy it. It could be good or it could be bad, but of course I would love to score back at Swansea."

Despite Bony's struggle for form at City, Pellegrini is ready to hand him the chance to partner Sergio Aguero next season.

And Bony insists it is a partnership that can blossom to help City challenge for honours again.

"Sergio is one of the best," Bony said. "You can see when we play together that there is something there.

"I couldn't say I'm quicker than him, but he's not stronger than me. We can work together and complement each other. Together I think we can be quite scary. I just need to prepare myself for next season.

"We'll see how I do then because next season is when you will see the real Bony at City."

Meanwhile, Pellegrini has confirmed that Frank Lampard is likely to miss the club's post-season tour to North America to prepare for his move to New York City FC.

The City squad are due to play two friendlies in the final week of this month, before attending New York's home game against Houston on

May 30, but Lampard, who postponed his move to the MLS for six months in January, will not travel.

"I think Frank's time with us will finish at the end of the season," Pellegrini said.
