CHENNAI: Jeppiaar Institute of Technology (Sriperumpudur) beat Arise 66-15 in the final of the state-level open basketball championship at Karur. In the semifinals, they had beaten Karur Basketball Club 50-22.

The Dr MGR Memorial Trophy inter-college softball championship will be held on September 17 and 18 at the Madras Seva Sadan Higher Secondary School in Tambaram. The event is being organised by the Chennai District Softball Association.

Dr Sivanthi Club beat Panimalar Engg College in their women’s match of the Jones Foundations state-level volleyball tournament.
Results: Women: Dr Sivanthi Club bt Panimalar 20-25, 25-21, 25-22. Men: St Joseph’s Engineering bt Customs 25-15, 23-25, 25-16.
