Tamil Nadu completed the formalities and registered a 104-run victory over Maharashtra on the final day of the Group B Ranji Trophy match at MA Chidambaram stadium here on Tuesday. It was the hosts’ first outright win of the season.
TN shared the points with Odisha in their rain-ruined first match. In the second match at home, TN conceded the lead to Karnataka despite putting up a huge total.
TN took the remaining two wickets without much fuss in 8.5 overs as Maharashtra were all out for 88 in 46.5 overs. Spinners Aushik Srinivas and Malolan Rangarajan took a wicket each as TN earned six points for their victory.
With thisvictory, TN have eight points from three matches. While Maharashtra have one point after two games.
Malolan, who took seven wickets in the match, was adjudged Man of the Match. “We have learnt one needs to be mentally tough while playing under pressure-like situations. Plus shot selection is one area we need to work and we will try to do it in the remaining matches,’’ said a disappointed Rohit Motwani, captain of Maharashtra.
