TN complete formalities

Tamil Nadu registered a 104-run victory over Maharashtra on the final day of the Group B Ranji Trophy match at MA Chidambaram stadium on Tuesday.

Tamil Nadu completed the formalities and reg­i­stered a 104-run victory over Maharashtra on the final day of the Group B Ranji Trophy match at MA Chidambaram st­adium here on Tuesday. It w­as the hosts’ first outright win of the season.

TN shared the points with Od­isha in their rain-ruined fi­rst match. In the second ma­t­ch at home, TN conceded the le­ad to Karnataka despite putting up a huge total.

TN took the remaining two wi­ckets without much fuss in 8.5 overs as Maharashtra we­­re all out for 88 in 46.5 ove­r­s. Spinners Aushik Srinivas and Ma­lolan Rangarajan took a wi­cket each as TN earned six points for their victory.

With thisvictory, TN have eight points from three matches. While Maharashtra ha­ve one point after two ga­mes.

Malolan, who took seven wi­ckets in the match, was adjudged Man of the Match. “We have learnt one needs to b­e mentally tough while playi­ng under pressure-like situati­ons. Plus shot selection is one ar­ea we need to work and we will try to do it in the remaini­ng matches,’’ said a disappo­inted Rohit Motwani, captain of Maharashtra.
