Despite the big-hitting Yusuf Pathan playing more on reputation than form, Kolkata skipper Gautam Gambhir has backed him to the hilt. “Yusuf can be a match-winner any time. There is no question about his ability. We are with him and the whole team backs him. He will fire and we have no doubts about that,” said  Gambhir who turned up for the presser an hour later than the time announced.

“The tournament is still in its first week. Every tournament has been like this. You never know the top four teams till the final games are played. This (year), I think, will be no different. We have played two, won and lost one each. So there is a long way to go,” the KKR captain said. “I don’t know about losing or gaining any momentum. That word is not in my dictionary. We look at every match in isolation and play our best cricket every time,” he said in answer to a question if the team had lost any momentum.

On the possible playing eleven, Gambhir said: “We have not yet decided on the playing eleven and I cannot share anything with you now on that score. We try to have the best possible combination and balance.”
