Unmukt shines in Delhi’s title triumph

India U-19 captain Unmukt Chand (116; 133b, 8x4, 3x6) played a stellar role in Delhi’s 75-run win over Assam in the final of the Vijay Hazara all India one-day cricket tournament at ACA-VDCA Stadium on Sunday.  Thanks to Chand, Delhi put up an impressive 290 for 9  in 50 overs. Assam, in reply, could score only 215 in 44.2 overs. Rajat Bhatia was the pick of Delhi bowlers with 3-36. He was well supported by Parvinder Awana  (2 for 1) and Varun Sood (2 for 46).

Chand looked in great touch. The young batsman raced to his 100 in 115 balls. He and Punit Bisht, who made 50, put on 97 for the opening wicket. After Bisht’s dismissal, Chand added 115 with Jagrit Anand to give Delhi a big total.

DS Jadhav hit a 114-ball 87 in Assam’s poor show.
