Jayantha Dharmadasa, a business magnate, will bethe new chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), officials said today.
Dharmadasa, the older brother of the incumbent Upali Dharmadasa,was a former head of the SLC's politically appointed interim committee.
SLC officials said Dharmadasa's nomination has been approvedby the SLC executive committee after all nominations of three other contenderswere rejected.
The latest development means elections for all office bearerpositions, other than the chairman, will be held on April 16.
Meanwhile, Thilanga Sumathipala, who was regarded as the front-runnerto be the chairman until the rejection of his nomination, has written to theMinister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage calling for reasons for therejection of his candidature.
Aluthgamage had earlier said that Sumathipala has been foundto be ineligible to stand by a three-member probe committee appointed by thesports ministry.
