The intense battle between India and New Zealand was evident on the field with both sides coming up with some brilliant performances during the Eden Gardens' Test. One of the incidents that occurred during the second session of the third day of the Kolkata Test grabbed a lot of attention from viewers and players as well.
During the course of the match, India were at 25 for the loss of two wickets in their second innings with Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan at the crease. Trent Boult came up with an excellent delivery which struck the pads of the Indian skipper and an elated New Zealand side appealed for an LBW which was turned down by umpire Rod Tucker.
A furious looking New Zealand stand-in skipper Ross Taylor was not happy with the umpire's decision and was seen spewing abuse out of frustration. Sledging has always been common on the field but what makes this incident stand out is the fact that Ross Taylor used the choices abuses... in Hindi!
Kohli, who is quick to lob it back to opponents, instead broke into a wide grin listening to the Hindi 'gaali' coming a New Zealander's mouth.
Ross Taylor surely expanded his sledging repertoire from Indian counterparts during his time playing in the IPL. It's well known that Ross Taylor has played alongside Virat Kohli himself during his stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore team for three years. And now, being on the other side, Virat himself got a taste of what he probably taught his former teammate, though it may not have been aimed at him.
