Rohit, Kohli and Mishra help India thrash New Zealand by 190 runs; clinch ODI series

Chasing 270 runs, New Zealand collapsed for a mere 79 with leg-spinner Amit Mishra returning figures of 5-18.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Leg-spinner Amit Mishra claimed five wickets to skittle New Zealand out for a paltry 79 as India thrashed the Black caps by 190 runs to clinch the five-match one-day international series 3-2 in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

The visitors, who were chasing a target of 270, registered their lowest ODI total against India in 23.1 overs.

Chasing 270 runs, New Zealand collapsed for a mere 79 with Mishra returning figures of 5-18.

Earlier, half-centuries by Kohli and Rohit helped India post 269/6.

Both Kohli and Rohit were off to slow starts before going for the big shots once they got their eye in.

Kohli scored 65 runs off 76 deliveries with two boundaries and a six while Rohit smashed five boundaries and three hits into the stands on his way to a 65-ball 70.
